IFIP TC6

Dear Colleagues

Thank you to all those of you who attended the IFIP TC6 Strategy Meeting in Dagstuhl. We are grateful for your contribution. The final programme, as it turned out to be, is given here:

Following is a brief list of outcomes and major actions from the meeting. These are notable actions and I hope colleagues named above will follow up with further communication to groups/subgroups. If I have missed any minor issues, please do raise them.

1) Proposed New Journal

• Open Access
• Innovative Reviewer model (proposed by Peter Reichl and Fabio Ricciato)
• Has to be indexed
• Legal entity to be established

2) New Activities (WG?)

• focussing on communication aspects of social networking
• to be define: scope, activities, conferences, core members
• interest expressed by: Panos, Vassilis, Ana, Isabelle, Otto, Winfried

Actions: Peter Reichl and Andrea Passarella

3) TC6 Restructuring

• WG could be more thematic (as now)
• WGs certainly need a fresh thinking; fewer in number
• Task forces focus on actions: DLs, open access, conferences: rankings and statistics,
• Once the task is done, TF closes
• Membership: need for recognition
• TC6-level membership: depends on WG chairs
• TF Conferences: Jordi
